Department of Radiation Oncology is engaged in the comprehensive management of patients with cancer by providing Radiation therapy, Chemotherapy, and Palliative care as well as Community Oncology. Its academic activities revolve around the teaching of Postgraduates in Radiation Oncology and other related disciplines, Undergraduates and students pursuing B.Sc. Radiotherapy & Technology.
Our out-patient department services function 6 days a week from 8 A.M to 5 P.M except on Saturday (8 AM – 1 PM) which caters to patients on tumour recall and control appointments, review of patients undergoing daily radiation treatment and patients newly diagnosed of cancer and opportunistic screening.
We also conduct a Rapid Access Cancer Screening and Early Detection Clinic on every Saturday from 2 P.M to 4 P.M. along with second opinion clinics. This enables the general public to be able to dedicate some time to a general health check-up and screening without hampering their work schedule.
Daycare chemotherapy ward functions along with outpatient services six days a week. In addition, in-patient services are offered for patients who require admission. Radiotherapy department also extends palliative care services to patients presenting to our hospital and offers home visits on request to patients who do not wish to be shifted to hospital for symptom management and end of life care. Anti- Tobacco counseling is offered to patients as well as their relatives.
Department of Radiation Oncology maintains the Hospital-based Cancer Registry and is one of the participating centers of Hospital-Based cancer Registry Project, NCDIR, ICMR. Expert opinions are sought from renowned oncologists in UK, USA, Canada & Australia.
Regular weekly multidisciplinary tumour board meeting is conducted on Friday and a Head and Neck Cancer Multidisciplinary Forum on Thursday. Inputs and expert opinions are sought from renowned oncologists in UK, USA, Canada & Australia.
All patients with a histopathological diagnosis of cancer requiring cancer-directed therapy in the form of Radiation therapy, Chemotherapy and Palliative and End of Life care.
