The department of Pharmacology in CMC began in 1953 and constantly progressing under the dynamic leadership of the following persons and developed different fields in the subjects. Many eminent pharmacologists have contributed for the development of the department and their works have been depicted in national & international journals.

Presently, the department is recognized for postgraduate course like M.D and Ph.D. It also undertakes teaching-learning programmes for nursing and dental students. The department is involved in establishing an innovative approach to medical education. Different projects on experimental and clinical pharmacology has been on prescribing pattern studies, psychomotor performance studies, toxicity studies, rational drug use studies and clinical trials in the different departments in the hospital.
