The Department of Physiology is actively involved in the training of undergraduate and postgraduate students. The current undergraduate courses are Medical, Dental and Physiotherapy and there is a 3 year MD Physiology postgraduate course.

The major areas of research in our department have been Sports Physiology, Cardiovascular Physiology, Pulmonary Physiology and Reproductive Physiology.
Our research has mostly been clinically based.

We also have contributed to Medical Education and Dr. Sheena Singh, Head of Department is currently the Secretary of the Medical Education Cell. We have guided several ICMR studentship projects of undergraduate students as well.

We are affiliated to the Association of Physiology and Pharmacology of India, and have hosted several Local Branch Post Graduate Symposia.
