The Department of
Orthopedic is among the largest of the surgical units at CMC & H. We cater
to the medical needs of patients from distant places, especially the
North and North-West of India. Today a well trained staff handles most
orthopedic problems.
Today
our practice of Orthopedics includes and matches the best available in
the country. Besides management of basic and complicated trauma, we also
specialize in Joint Replacements, Arthroscopic Surgery and Surgery of
Spine. In keeping with the changing times, we have a separate children’s
clinic and look forward to establish further such sub specialties in
the near future. Towards that end we have sent doctors abroad for
further training in Arthroplasty and Shoulder surgery.
As part of our Out Reach Program we hold
regular camps for the needy in and around Punjab. Whether it was the
tragedy following earthquakes in Gujarat or the recent havoc following
the Tsunami disaster, our teams have helped out with others in the
institution that had gone ahead and contributed with medical aid. Our
trainees have also upheld the mandate of the institution by serving in
far off mission hospitals providing the much needed help to the lesser
fortunate in this country who would otherwise not have access to the
reasonable medical care.
Our motto continues to be: To train hundreds to serve thousands.
