The second floor houses the undergraduate
section, the reading hall and the medical photography and audio-visual
section. The library is kept open from 8:00 a.m to 10:00p.m. on all week
days and 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm on Saturdays. Besides comfortable seating
and reading environment, facilities such as photocopying, internet
access, printing scanning and CD’s have been provided.
The Mission of the library is to acquire, manage, provide and
disseminate health sciences information to student and faculty of the
institution and constituent institution of the Christian Medical College
Society.
Resources:
The library a
collection of books covering the basic sections, all the specialties of
dentistry, dental hygiene, dental machines and resource materials for
postgraduate entrance and foreign examinations; Journals in both print
and online forms are available; Compact discs; A number of periodicals
and dissertations.
Services
Document Circulation Services
The books are issued to undergraduate students, postgraduates,
research scholars and faculty members. Bound, unbound journals,
audio-visual materials and CD are for use within the library only.
Reference Services
Reference services is a personal aid provided to the user by the
library staff in interpreting library collection for study and research.
The library staff assists the user to locate needs information from the
available information resources including the central library of the
Christian Medical College.
Photocopier Services
Through this services library provides photocopies of articles
from journals and books to the users as and when there is demand.
Computer Services
The computer section of the
library offers following computer services to users:
Internet browsing and online journals access
Facilities for preparing presentation materials such as sliders,
transparencies and color scanning
Assisting the students and faculty members for editing project / thesis,
data analysis, setting the file to the required quality of print and
printing
Color scanning, CD writing, and with printing.
CD-ROM Service
The CD-Rom collection of the library contains full text
databases. Which includes back volumes of medical journal articles,
medical text books etc.
Current Awareness Service
Library enables health science professionals keep current by:
displaying of new books/journals and making available the same
separately for the initial period.
Departmental Libraries
To carry out the hospital
routine work, post graduate requirements and immediate or routine
references, the department libraries help with central control from the
main library. This service is usually limited to only reference. |
