By 1992, the College was affiliated to Punjab University and the first
20 students were registered for the degree of Bachelor of Dental
Surgery. In 1997, the Dental Council of India granted its recognition to
the College. This year was significant in yet another way as the first
batch of dental students trained from this college moved out with 100%
pass and several distinctions, to serve the vast humanity as full
fledged dental surgeons. The student intake was raised to 40 admissions
per year from 1998. Affiliation was shifted to the Baba Farid University
of Health Sciences, Faridkot in July 1999.
Community outreach programme has got a primary importance at our
College. The services were initiated in 1984 and the Dental Van equipped
with dental chairs along with doctors, assistants, hygienists and
students go to villages, slums, labour colonies and schools to provide
dental check up and treatment at very nominal costs.
The College held it first Convocation Ceremony on 6th November 1999.
This was a momentous event for the Christian Dental College as it marked
the beginning of a new era in the history of the College.
Our college is the first private dental college in the state of Punjab
to start the MDS course in the subject of Pedodontia & Preventive
Dentistry in the year 2002. Its first batch of 4 students passed out in
December 2005. We envisage to start P.G programmes in other specialties.
In 2003, we initiated the certificate course (duly recognized by the
Dental Council of India) for Dental mechanic with an annual intake of 20
admission.
Today, the Christian Dental College has carved a niche for itself. Our
focus is to work towards making education relevant to the real world
needs and preserve the ideals of higher education keeping in mind our
founder Dr. Dame Edit Brown’s vision and goal of excellence.
